Retainers

Things to know before getting retainers

Retainers are custom-made devices, usually made of wires or clear plastic, that hold teeth in position after surgery or any method of realigning teeth. You have to wear them consistently to get results and they need regular adjustments from your dentist.

After an oral procedure to realign teeth, if Dr. Morel determines you need a retainer, she will take a mold of your teeth. After this, the aligner will be computer generated and your retainer will be made. You will require a follow-up appointment to pick your retainer up.

It will be essential to wear you retainer as much as possible to get the most improvements for your smile. Regular follow-up appointments are necessary to make sure your retainer is helping your teeth. Be sure to avoid eating with retainers on as you could damage them. Let your dentist know if there are any damages.
