Oral Infections

Things to know before your visit

Mouth infections typically originate from dental caries at the root of molars that spread to adjacent structures. For patients where the infection is contained in one tooth, removing the offending tooth to allow drainage will usually resolve the infection. In cases that spread to adjacent structures, surgical drainage and systemic antibiotics may be required in addition to tooth extraction.

After your oral exam, if our staff determines you have an oral infection, they will determine whether or not an extraction is needed. If one is needed, you will be sedated. When you wake up Dr. Morel will discuss getting implants.

Be sure to let your doctor know if you have any pain or discomfort before the procedure. Note that after receiving implants you may experience pain. If this persists, then see your dentist.
